Javelin has played an important role in the success of the Telstra Message to the Troops campaign since 2010. This initiative involves encouraging AFL fans to send Australian troops serving overseas a message of support leading up to Anzac Day.
A key driver in generating publicity and awareness for the campaign involved coordinating 88 players from four AFL clubs to write a personal and heartfelt message of support on their club guernseys. These were distributed to troops serving in Afghanistan, East Timor and the Solomon Islands.
Vision of players signing the guernseys, as well as troops receiving the guernseys overseas was a catalyst in generating widespread national coverage for the campaign. In 2010, the campaign generated 20,000 messages, and over 500 media clips with an audience reach of approximately 10 million people.
In addition to the Message to the Troops campaign, Javelin also manages the PR for Telstra’s AFL Community Camp sponsorship and AFL Finals Series leverage.
