Javelin has just completed the final lap of the 2010 V8 championship series, with the final Sydney Telstra 500 race held out at Sydney Olympic Park between 3-5 December.
Among the highlights of the final V8 race was the inclusion of the official Sydney Telstra 500 Grid Kids. Javelin coordinated an exclusive promotion through Sydney’s Daily Telegraph to find ten lucky nippers from a NSW Surf Life Saving Club to take part in various activities with the V8 drivers over the three days.

The promotion went gang busters with the eventual winners from Dee Why Surf Life Saving Club an absolute hit at the race! The Sydney Telstra 500 Grid Kids completed a lap around the track with V8 drivers just before the final race on Sunday and met with Channel 7’s Mark Beretta for a live cross on Sunrise, all thanks to Telstra.
Taking things into overdrive, Javelin and Telstra enlisted the help of two popular V8 drivers, Ford’s Mark Winterbottom and Holden’s Garth Tander, to engage in a ‘tug of war’ Telstra Pulling Power competition to raise funds for Surf Life Saving, the official charity of the Sydney Telstra 500.
Over the duration of the event, Javelin helped generate national and state-based publicity amongst media outlets including the Daily Telegraph, Channel 7, the official V8 website, Triple M and the Manly Daily.
