Telstra Message to the Troops

Wednesday, 20 April, 2011

Telstra has partnered with the Australian Defence Force (ADF) to launch the Message to the Troops 2011 campaign allowing Australians to send a message of support to our service men and women this Anzac Day long weekend.

Message to the Troops, now in its third year, has seen more than 25,000 messages sent to ADF personnel, and Telstra and the ADF hope to deliver an unprecedented 30,000 in 2011.

And Javelin is proud to once again be responsible for promoting Message to The Troops through Telstra's AFL, NRL and netball sponsorships - as well as via regional media.

Australia’s latest Victoria Cross recipient, Corporal Ben Roberts-Smith (above), said members of the ADF highly valued the support of their fellow Aussies. “There are thousands of men and women serving in the Australian Defence Force, and they make sacrifices every day to better our great nation,” Corporal Roberts-Smith said.

“It only takes a few seconds to say thanks and give our troops a much-needed morale boost this Anzac Day, so I encourage everyone to join me in sending my mates a text message or email.”

Australians can send a ‘Message to the Troops’ from 5:00 am Wednesday 20 April to 11:00 pm EST on Tuesday 26 April, via SMS on their mobile phone to 044 SUPPORT (0447 877 678) or by going to www.telstra.com/anzacday to email their support.
