2 - Karama Primary School - 2009 NT Impact Award Winner

Schools First applications for 2010 closed last Friday, 30 July, 2010 at 5.00pm drawing to a close one phase of what has so far been an incredibly successful second year of this ambitious and ground breaking national educational awards program.

Schools First is a three year $15 million investment from NAB in partnership with The Foundation for Young Australians (FYA) and Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) and designed to support sustainable and effective school-community partnerships as a means of improving educational outcomes for students.

Javelin Australia was appointed to mange PR for the first year of the awards in 2009, with the first year of the awards providing $4.95 million to 88 schools.

The media coverage for Schools First in 2009 reached over 12.78 million people in the first year, and the challenge was always going to be on to at least match or exceed these targets in Year Two.

In 2010 so far, Javelin has already help generate coverage for Schools First which has reached 10.95 million people nationally including most recently a feature on the 2009 National Award Winner on Channel 10's The 7pm Project on Tuesday, 27 July, 2010. This is in addition to coverage on Channel 7 news, Herald Sun, The Age, Daily Telegraph, Courier Mail, Adelaide Advertiser etc etc.

Javelin look s forward to working with the Schools First team in helping to promote the announcement of the 10 8 award winners for this year throughout September and October.
