Russell Feilen, CEORussell Feilen, CEO

Javelin Australia circa 2010 is very much an organisation moulded in the image of its CEO who has been with the organisation in this role since 2003.

With a diverse background in events, talent management and media, Russ brings with him great passion, knowledge and expertise that is now a trademark of the way Javelin does business.

At Javelin, he has found an environment where the creativity can thrive, and he is constantly amazed and proud of the quality and calibre of work achieved by the team under his watch.

Despite a dislike for doing the morning coffee run and penchant for chick flicks and women’s mags, Russ’s insights and expertise are sought by clients across the country and largely respected by his staff.

Just don’t get between the Feilo and the microphone when “Run To Paradise” comes on at Karaoke session.

Greg Campbell, Media Director (Sydney)Greg Campbell, Media Director (Sydney)

What Cambo doesn’t know about media is not worth knowing. A respected and revered figure in the Australian media, Cambo is a former senior sports journo with The Australian newspaper. He has been on the media team of every summer Australian Olympics Team since 1996 and has also worked in the Australian media teams for Rugby and Football World Cups and also for the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games.

A father figure of the Javelin team, Cambo leads the Telstra Country Wide, Telstra Foundation and SCG Trust business with distinction. And his personal theme song for the Javelin karaoke party speaks volumes not only of his musical taste, but also the lengths that he continually goes to for Javelin’s clients – River Deep, Mountain High!

Jacqui Wisemantel, Account Director (Sydney)Jacqui Wisemantel, Account Director (Sydney)

Jacqui “Jac of all trades” Wisemantel is the glue that keeps the Javelin office together, bringing to the team her years of experience as a media planner/buyer with DDB, her role as an event manager, plus a largely underutilised Diploma’s of Graphic Design.

One of Jacqui's greatest professional and personal achievements includes working with Russ Feilen for 10 years. While she would be the last person to boast about it, Jac has also dedicated a lot of her energies away from work to benefit various causes including Cerebral Palsy.

Kate Ryan, Account Manager (Sydney)Kate Ryan, Account Manager (Sydney)

Kate joins Javelin with a wealth of expereince in PR and media around the country, including spending the last 2 and a half years based in Darwin as the PR and Media Coordinator for Tourism NT (Northern Territory Tourism Commission).

Prior to trekking all around the red centre, Kate also worked as a Publicist for Roadshow Entertainment promoting ABC DVD titles including 'Chasers War on Everything' and 'Summer Heights High'.

Kate also has extensive events experience with a stint as the Street Parade Manager at the Sydney Royal Easter Show under her belt.

Melanie Neilson, Account Director (Brisbane)Melanie Neilson, Account Director (Brisbane)

Mel joined Javelin in 2006 with a world of experience in industries as diverse as banking, alcohol, music and media. All of which have come in incredibly handy in her time at Javelin where she continues to lead the way through her outstanding management of Telstra’s “Road To Tamworth”, arts and ballet sponsorships.

All those Januarys in Tammers have also helped Neilo refine her rendition of her stand out choice for Javelin’s theme song - “Run To Paradise”.

Tom Gallimore, Account Director (Brisbane)Tom Gallimore, Account Director (Brisbane)

Tom is the latest and greatest addition to the Javelin team, and has doubled the size of the Javelin Brisbane office since joining the team.

His previous PR roles in the sport (Wallabies), alcohol (Foster’s Australia) and media (Nova) have been perfect preparation for his role with Javelin.

Currently working across the Telstra business, Tom is enjoying the ‘work hard, play hard’ culture of Javelin – at least until he secures his dream PR job as PR Manager for the New York Yankees or Victoria’s Secret.

Simon Blackie, Media Dircetor (Melbourne)Simon Blackie, Account Director (Melbourne)

Blackie has been the spiritual leader in the Melbourne Javelin office for well over 10 years, helping manage every major campaign in that time including Fosters Australia, Betfair, Coca Cola and NAB. His media contacts and expertise are second to none in this sports mad town.

A mad Saints supporter (but aren’t they all?), Simon includes amongst his greatest life achievements shooting 3 over par on Christmas Day 2009 (while the wife and kids were overseas on holiday) and his dream PR job is to be PR Manager for the US Masters at Augusta National.

Fresh from taking the family on an extended caravanning road trip around regional Australia in 2009, Simon is fresh and fired up for 2010 and likens the collective spirit of the Javelin office to a gut busting rendition of “Eye Of The Tiger”.

Penny Cembala, Account Director (Melbourne)Penny Cembala, Account Director (Melbourne)

Pen’s ten plus years with Javelin has seen her work in an event management and media management capacity on campaigns for stamps, beer, cricket, wine, banking, footy, telecommunications and everything in between.

She has worked in the Sydney office, Melbourne office and been in the thick of the PR action on the ground at two Olympic Games and too many other major domestic sporting events to mention.

Penstar’s proudest off the field achievements include being the proud working mother of two young girls, and winning a Victorian State Championship medal in 2005 for rowing (novice fours). It is no surprise that her nomination for the Javelin theme song is “Livin’ on a Prayer” by Bon Jovi.

Stuart Osbourne, Account Director (Melbourne)Stuart Osbourne, Account Director (Melbourne)

In 2010, Stu will notch up his tenth year with the Javelin team in which time he has managed campaigns for the likes of Woolmark, Australia Post, Cricket Australia, Krispy Kreme, adidas, NAB, Fosters Australia and Wolf Blass.

The most surreal moment of his PR career to date still remains the hectic opening of the first Krispy Kreme store in Melbourne – possibly because it involved being at Fountain Gate at the ungodly hour of 4.30am.

A tragic Bombers fan and occasional closet sci-fi nerd, Stu revels in the variety of his role with Javelin and the people that he works with, and loves nothing more than nailing a PR idea and seeing it to completion.

Samuel Duncan, Account Executive (Melbourne)Samuel Duncan, Account Manager (Melbourne)

Currently completing his PhD in Communications (by research) from Swinburne University, Samuel Duncan can possibly lay claim to being the most academically credentialed member of Javelin Australia’s team.

Add to this his credentials as a published author (‘Rolling with the Punches: Tales of an Aussie Traveller’ – to order your copy email Sam here) and as a former Chief Bingo caller of Mulwala Water Ski Club in Yarrawonga circa 2006, and you will understand why in such a short time Sam has become such a valuable member of the Javelin team.

This optimistic and passionate Bomber likens life in the Javelin office to Monty Python’s ‘Always Look on the Bright Side of Life'.

Claire McGarry, Account Manager (Melbourne)Claire McGarry, Account Manager (Melbourne)

Javeiln is proud to welcome Claire McGarry as the latest addition to the Javelin Melbourne team. Claire brings with her several years expereince working on campaigns for Channel 7, Mattel toys, Hunterfive, The Brotherhood of St Lawrence and Phillip Johnson landscapes. With a strong background in dance, Claire brings plenty of flair and creativity to her management of the PR for NAB's sponsorship of The Australian Ballet.

Brooke Tully, PR Consultant (Melbourne)Brooke Tully, PR Consultant (Melbourne)

In addition to being an accomplished tri-athlete, Brookey speaks fluent French as well as some non-dialect Italian, making her one of the fittest and more cultured members of the Javelin team.

Brooke also possesses an enviable little black book of media contacts and during her time in PR has worked on campaigns for a borad range of clients including Cadbury, Chuppa Chups, G-Star, Nike, adidas, Krispy Kreme Australia, Australia Post and NAB.

Brooke’s favourite campaign with Javelin is Schools First. When pressed, Brooke nominated “Circus” by Britney Spears as her suggestion for a Javelin theme song, but it could just as easily be any questionable 80s or 90s pop song.

Prue Tully, PR Consultant (Melbourne)Prue Tully, PR Consultant (Melbourne)

With a Diploma of Interior Design and Decoration, as well as a Diploma in Massage Therapy/Remedial Therapy, Prue is vastly over qualified for her current role in PR.

Prue also worked in advertising before joining the world of PR, so brings a unique skill set and perspective with her work on NAB, Australia Post, adidas and Krispy Kreme. Along with many of her colleagues, ‘Apples’ nominates Schools First as the favourite PR campaign she has worked on during her five years in PR.
